About Us

At Splendid K9, we believe that when a dog's behaviour becomes challenging, the solution isn't simply to teach the dog to obey.

There is usually more going on beneath the surface.

Perhaps walks have become stressful because your dog reacts to other dogs. Maybe visitors have become difficult because of barking, fear or aggression. You may be struggling with separation, anxiety, destructive behaviour or simply feel as though you've tried everything and still don't know what to do.

We understand how difficult that can be — and we're here to help.

For over 9 years, Splendid K9 has helped dogs and their owners navigate complex behavioural challenges and build healthier, more confident relationships. Our focus is not on quick fixes or applying the same training programme to every dog. We take the time to understand the individual dog, the behaviour and the environment in which that behaviour occurs.

Because when you understand why your dog behaves the way they do, you can begin to change how they respond.

Specialised Behaviour Support, Built Around Your Dog

Every dog is different.

Their genetics, early experiences, environment, relationships, temperament and previous learning all influence how they behave. That's why we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

Our clients work directly with experienced dog behaviour specialists through structured, specialised 1-on-1 training programmes designed around their individual circumstances.

Rather than simply teaching a set of commands, we work with you and your dog to identify the challenges you're experiencing, establish practical strategies and progressively build better behavioural patterns.

Our programmes can be tailored to dogs experiencing challenges including:

  • Aggression and threatening behaviour

  • Reactivity towards dogs, people or other triggers

  • Fear and anxiety

  • Separation-related difficulties

  • Poor socialisation

  • Excessive barking

  • Destructive behaviour

  • Impulse-control difficulties

  • Puppy development and foundational training

  • General obedience and household behaviour

  • Other complex or difficult-to-manage behaviours

Your Dog. Your Circumstances. Your Programme.

Our 1-on-1 model allows us to focus entirely on the individual dog and owner.

That means we can work on the behaviours that are actually affecting your everyday life — whether that's walking calmly past another dog, welcoming visitors into your home, being comfortable when left alone, or simply giving you greater confidence in handling your dog.

We Don't Just Train Dogs. We Train the Relationship.

Changing a dog's behaviour isn't only about what the dog does.

It's also about helping owners understand what their dog is communicating, recognising triggers, responding appropriately and knowing how to reinforce the behaviours they want to see.

That's why our specialists work with both ends of the lead.

Throughout our programmes, we give owners practical knowledge and skills that they can continue using long after a session has finished.

Our goal is not to make you dependent on a trainer.

Our goal is to make you confident without one.

Our Approach

Individualised

No two dogs are the same. We assess each case individually and build our recommendations around your dog's behaviour, history, environment and your specific goals.

Science-Based

Our approach is grounded in established principles of canine learning and behaviour. We focus on understanding the underlying drivers of behaviour rather than relying on outdated, one-size-fits-all training methods.

Practical

Behaviour change has to work in the real world. We focus on strategies that can be incorporated into your everyday life — at home, on walks, around other dogs, with visitors and wherever challenges actually occur.

Positive & Relationship-Focused

We aim to build trust, communication and cooperation between dogs and their owners. Creating reliable behaviour should not come at the expense of the relationship you have with your dog.

Results-Oriented

Our objective is meaningful, sustainable improvement — not simply a dog that performs well during a training session.

More Than Training. A Path Towards Better Everyday Life.

We know that difficult dog behaviour can gradually change the way an owner lives.

You may stop taking your dog to certain places. Avoid other dogs. Worry about having people over. Feel anxious before every walk. Or constantly wonder whether you're making the right decisions.

These experiences can be exhausting.

Our role is to help you move from uncertainty to understanding, frustration to confidence, and difficult behaviour to practical progress.

Because successful behaviour work isn't about creating a "perfect" dog.

It's about helping you and your dog function better together in the real world.

More freedom. More calm. More confidence.

Experience You Can Trust

Over the years, Splendid K9 has worked with a wide variety of dogs, owners and behavioural challenges.

That experience has taught us an important lesson:

There is rarely a single solution to a behaviour problem.

The right approach depends on the individual dog, the people around them and the circumstances in which the behaviour occurs.

That's why we don't believe in promising instant transformations or selling training that a dog doesn't need.

We believe in honest assessment, clear guidance and giving owners the tools they need to create lasting change.

Sometimes that means a structured training programme. Sometimes it means targeted behavioural intervention. And sometimes the best recommendation is simply giving an owner the knowledge and strategies they need to continue independently.

Our priority is finding the right solution — not selling you the most sessions.
